A Tokalon "Petalia" small compact for solid powder. It has a hard, plasticized lid with a dark blue edge.  (I have seen a red edge but that seems rarer).  "Tokalon Paris" is stamped on a side of the base. It has not got the inner aluminium powder godet or the original puff.  It does have a replacement green swansdown puff. Circa 1930.  This compact and the matching loose powder boxes are amongst the most distinctive of the Art Deco images of the period.  My thanks to Jenny Duncan and her articles in the British Compact Collectors Magazines.  The front of the compact is in good condition - as is the mirror.  The gilt metal work is not dented but has lost some of the lacquer in places - so the colour is uneven.  The inside base - where the godet would sit - is scratched.  The compact measures approx. 2 inches in diameter.
