DESCRIPTION: This is a Joseph Mazer vintage clown brooch. This large, enamelled and diamante brooch depicts a clown and his suitcase. Several versions of this brooch were made in different colours and slightly different designs. Pre 1953.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Joseph Mazer and his brother started the company in 1923 but around 1937 Joseph started his own company – Joseph Mazer. Many of the pieces were marked ‘Jomaz’ but on some of the more important pieces ‘Joseph Mazer’ was marked in full. This piece has the full signature. Joseph Mazer items were not produced after 1952. Jomaz items were made until closure in 1980. The brooch is very well made. It is quite substantial! Detailed enamelling. White diamante waistcoat. Blue diamante rosette. A red tie with black hearts. A complicated, beautiful piece and I think quite rare!
MEASUREMENTS AND CONDITION: The condition is very good. It measures about 3 inches top to bottom.
