DESCRIPTION: A vintage, circa 1980s, Monty Don diamante crown and portcullis brooch.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: A rarer Monty Don brooch – the crown and portcullis – white metal with white diamante glass stones. I have not seen this one before. It is a popular topic for a brooch – Our British Parliament is still making gold and silver brooches in a similar design. Please see my notes on Monty Don in my Manufacturers Blog section.
MEASUREMENTS: It measures about 2 x 1 1/4 inches. On thing I have to mention is that a couple of the stones have probably been replaced. The sizing of baguette stones has changed since the 1980s. The easily available ones now are just a shade bigger. If you look at the top left baguette stone you can just about see it. I only noticed it on the photo – the difference is very small. I do not have any of the thinner ones to replace the 3 slightly bigger ones. In terms of colour and shape they are the same. If you can see the difference and it would upset you please do not order it! As it is a difficult to get design I think the price reflects this.
