A Czech necklace from the 1930's period. There was a tendency for necklaces to get shorter in the 1930's than they had been in the 1920's. This one consists of ridged, green glass beads. These beads are not an even colour - they are mottled - and were used a lot at this period. The beads have an elaborate bead cap on either side. The beads are intersperce with gilt on brass metal cylinders that have decorated surfaces. The length of the necklace is approx 17 1/2 inches. It is in good condition. The metal is not bright and shiny - it could be polished - but I have not done this as some people prefer it as it is. These necklaces are getting much harder to find in an original condition - as this one is. I have a great affection for the early Czech jewellery and always try to have a selection in my shop at Grays Antiques.
