A row of millefiori beads from ?1930-1940s. Millefiori beads are difficult to date and I am not an expert. These would have been made in glass works in Murano, Italy. The glass canes that are put together to make a bead are very varied in this necklace - and not often repeated. The predominant colour is blue. The small beads in between are black. The clasp is a replacement as it was broken. I think the necklace has probably been restrung at some point. It is in good condition and the length is approx. 21 inches (a good length for everyday wear!) The largest bead is over an inch long. A lovely necklace!
