This Egyptian Revival style necklace has come from a large quantity of jewellery I am buying from a shop that shut in 1972. The shop was opened around 1900. The then owner used to go to Gablonz to buy jewellery/findings. According to the family member I am buying the jewellery from, this man was her grandfather and he knew the Neiger brothers and was able to speak the language. His daughter took over the shop and jewellery was made using some of the old components bought by the grandfather. In 1972 the shop was shut - due to family problems - and the contents stayed in place until the daughter died recently. I have a large quantity of stock which I am sorting through. This necklace consists of a gilded brass chain - which is definitely an old one. It has faceted links. There is a central blue green glass pharaoh's head on a filigree panel and three blue green scarab beetles. These glass pieces are almost certainly Czech. from around 1930. There is a dark blue glass drop on an elaborate bead cap. I have had to replace the glue holding the glass pieces - as I did not consider the old glue to be strong enough now. Otherwise the piece is in good condition and I have not done anything else to it. It measures about 20 inches round the neck. Ref: 3332 YL
